Abstract

768,113. Lubricating bearings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Dec. 6, 1954 [Dec. 9, 1953], No. 35276/54. Classes 12 (1) and 12 (3). Shaft bearings comprising a cylindrical bush 24 and thrust washers 16, 31 are lubricated from a wick 26 bearing against a substantial peripheral of the shaft surface adjacent one end of the bush 24. Wedges 27 of non-absorbent material are incorporated in the wick 26, and these cause oil to flow from the wick 26 along the shaft in both directions. Oil throwers 7, 8 are secured to the shaft and house the thrust washers 16, 31 which are backed by resilient washers 15, 33 respectively. The remainder of the housing is filled with felt rings 37, 38 and 41 and packing.
