Abstract

541,821. Pumps supplying liquid fuel to internal combustion engines. WYNN, E. D., and POBJOY, D. R.. June 11, 1940, No. 10185. [Class 102 (i)] In a fuel supply system for an internal combustion engine 10, the liquid is delivered to the suction side 20 of the engine-driven pump 11 under pressure from an ejector 15 which is situated below and supplied from the fuel tank 12 and operated from the pressure side 13 of the pump, a supply 21 to the carburetter being tapped off the ejector circuit on the suction side of the pump, as shown, or on the pressure side. The pressure on the suction side of the pump is maintained above that pressure at which the fuel tends to form vapour locks. A pressurereducing valve may be included in the circuit of the pump and ejector.
