Abstract

541.796. Wireless signalling. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. July 1, 1940, No. 11116. Convention date, June 30, 1939. [Class 40 (v)] In a high frequency relay system in which short wave signals are received by :an antenna 1. amplified without change of frequency at 5 and retransmitted from an antenna 3, the reflectors 2, 4 are arranged so that energy fed back from 3 to 1 by certain paths such as 12 is neutralized by energy fed back over other paths such as 13. This may be done by cutting back the reflector 4 as at 9 by a distance equal to a quarter wavelength or both reflectors may be cut back by one eighth of a wavelength. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, describes a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (Cancelled, not shown), in which interference betwen the transmitting and receiving antenna is prevented by forming the edges of the reflectors with baffles one wavelength or more in extent. This subject-mater does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
