Abstract

540,918. Electrical precipitation apparatus. WHESSOE FOUNDRY & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and FRANCOMBE, K. W. May 10, 1940, No. 8467. [Class 39 (i)] In apparatus for the electrical precipitation of particles suspended in gases, of the type in which flexible discharge electrodes 9 are arranged between parallel plate collecting electrodes and in which the electrodes 9 are suspended from bars 10 with their lower ends passing through bars 12 and weighted at 13, swing- ing of the system is reduced by connecting the bars 10, 12 by a rigid structure comprising vertical members 15, 16, 19, extending part of the distance between the bars and connected by a cross member 17. The rigid structure may be made of tubular rods surrounding the flexible electrodes over part of their lengths ; or it may be made of solid rods which replace the corresponding parts of the electrodes.
