Abstract
631,586. Separating dust from gases. DAMOND, E. July 18, 1938, No. 21239. Convention date, July 27, 1937. [Class 8(ii)] Parts of apparatus are freed from dust deposits by means of a vibrator the speed of which is varied from zero to a maximum exceeding the critical speed at which resonance takes place in the parts, and back to zero, the cycle of variations being frequently repeated automatically so as continuously to cause the vibrator to pass through the range of speeds. In Fig. 1, a vibrator a is mounted on bars c, c<SP>1</SP>, fixed to brackets d, d', connected by bolts e to one of the walls of a hopper b. In Fig. 2, a vibrator a is adjustably secured to a plate k connected by an insulating bar h to a high voltage grid g to be freed from dust. In Fig. 3, a vibrator a is mounted on a casing n the lower wall o of which carries rods p to which are fixed radial plates q inside the fabric sleeves u of a filter, the casing being suspended by rigid or resilient rods s from a spring r. In a modification of this form, Figs. 4A-4B (not shown), sleeves outside the tubes u are carried by a casing adjustable vertically on a rod depending from the vibrator. In Fig. 5, a vibrator a is fixed to a tube u inside which is a sieve x.
