Abstract

540,272. Optical-projection apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and BOWEN, A. June 26, 1940, No. 10898. [Class 97 (i)] [Also in Group XL] For controlling the lighting of a kinematograph theatre in sympathy with the average light intensity and colour value of the projected image, light is projected through a film frame 2, near to that being projected, on to a refracting prism 4, and the parts of the dispersed beam are incidents upon a plurality of photo cells 6 each appropriately responsive and controlling a lighting circuit for lamps of the corresponding colour. Illumination may be by a lamp 1 with a linear source, or by mirrors from the projection source as described in Specification 514,673. A condenser 3 collimates the beam, and a lens 5 converges the beam components on to the cells 6. Specification 524,579 also is referred to.
