Abstract
201,602. Milne, J. S. March 8,1922. Kinematograph apparatus.-To eliminate flicker in an intermittent feed projector, the screen is illuminated by an auxiliary light beam during the periods of movement of the film, the intensity and colour of the auxiliary beam being regulated to correspond to those of the projecting light. The auxiliary light may be derived from the projector or from a separate source. Figs. 2 and 4 show an auxiliary lantern H, which is attached to the projector A and comprises condensers N, S, reflector M, and projecting lens T. The lantern H may also be provided with an adjustable erecting lens. The beams from the lanterns A, H are projected alternately by a rotary shutter K, Fig. 6, having central masking portions for the projection beam and annular masking portions for the auxiliary beam. The masking blades may be formed of uncoloured glass having a rippled surface. The intensity and colour of the auxiliary light are adjusted by slides inserted in the lantern H. In a modification, Fig. 11, the auxiliary light is derived from reflectors b on the shutter arranged, in conjunction with a fixed reflector, to project the auxiliary beam during the periods of observation of the projection beam.
