Oct. 30, 1930, No. 32598. Convention date, Jan. 15. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 97 (i).] To enable projection apparatus, particularly for kinematograph films, to be placed relatively close to the screen, a projection lens system is provided consisting of positive and negative components arranged with the positive component nearer the gate aperture. The equivalent focal length of the system is approximately equal to the longest side of the picture aperture and to the aperture of the positive component of the system and the distance from the projector to the screen is approximately equal to the longest side of the picture on the screen. The separation between the positive and negative components of the system is greater than the focal length of the positive component In Fig. 7 the film 23 is illuminated by a source of light 20 and reflector 21 and the image is projected by the lens system 25 .. 28, of which the positive component, comprising the elements 25, 26, is nearer the film. Numerical data are given for the projection lens system shown in Fig. 8.
