Abstract

361,939. Optical - projection systems. EVANS, W. E., 27, Chancery Lane, London.-(Allgemeine Elektricitats-Ges. ; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) June 26, 1930, No. 19513. [Class 97 (i).] An illuminating system for use with optical projection apparatus is characterized in that the rays of light from the source of light, which are broken up in known manner, for example by a divided concave mirror, into a number of pencils of light, are superposed in the plane of the picture to be projected by a system of condensers preferably having a number of members normal to the optical axis after the real intermediate reproduction of the source of light by means of each of the mirrors and the corresponding parts of the condenser, in such manner that shadows from parts of the source of light or of the members which hold it cannot appear in the gate and upon the projection screen. As shown, e is a concave mirror which casts an image of the source of light c to infinity, the lenses g and the auxiliary condenser m forming real images at c<1>. The surface to be illuminated is situated at f<1> near the field lens o, which produces real images c<11> of the images c<1> in the plane of the objective p, which forms a real image f<11> of the picture f<1> on the projection screen q. Two prisms with equal angles may refract the pencil of light rays from each lens g into a smaller condenser m, or each pencil may be reflected by plane mirrors. The lenses g may be dispensed with by the use of a divided concave mirror in which each part is slightly turned inwards towards the source of light.
