Abstract

334,708. Soc. Technique d'Optique et de Photographie. Oct. 6, 1928, [Convention date]. Kinematograph apparatus.-A positive or negative film bearing a number of juxtaposed images in the same picture space of the film is produced by printing by projection from two or more completed films on to one face of a sensitized film. The original films 5, 5<1>, 5<11> are led past gates, which may be fitted with masks and in front of which right-angled prisms 1, 1<11> are mounted which reflect the images of the films towards a central prism 2. This prism is turned periodically through a right-angle by a maltese cross mechanism 7, 8 so as successively to pick up the images from the fixed prisms and to reflect them through a lens system 3, e.g. an anamorphotic device as described in Specification 282,078 on to the sensitized film 4. Means are provided to cut off the printing light during the movement of the prism 2 and the films 5, 5<1>, 5<11> and 4 are advanced simultaneously one picture space whilst the prism 2 is in the fourth quadrant. Mirrors may be used to replace the prisms and the rotating prism may be an Amici prism. The apparatus may be used for the printing of sound tracks on a kinematograph film.
