Abstract
537,324. Sintering ores, cement, &c. ROLFSEN, O. March 18, 1940, No. 5026. Convention date, March 29, 1939 [Class 82 (i)] A sintering apparatus for ores, cement, &c. comprises a grate in the form of a conical surface rotating about an inclined axis. In the form shown, the grate bars 1, which are water-cooled, form the surface of a truncated cone the apex angle of which is about 90 degrees, rotating about an axis inclined at about 45 degrees. The space 11 under the grate bars is divided into compartments arranged to be put in communication in turn with an air supply by cam mechanism 17 operating valves 13 in inlets 14 the air being drawn through the grate and out through a pipe 15 which may be water-cooled. The grate bars may be arranged alternately on two co-axial conical surfaces.
