[Class 51 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] Apparatus for making seamless tubes (see Group XXII) includes a rotary annular hearth furnace having inlet and outlet apertures and a hearth 15 which may be of solid construction or have piers for supporting the billets to allow circulation of gases therearound, and which is sealed from below by sand seals 54, 56. A pivoted arm depending from the roof 14, Fig. 3 (not shown), makes frictional contact with each billet in turn as it passes beneath the arm and turns it through 180 degrees.
