[Class 51 (ii)] Where fixed tuyeres might be damaged in operation by coming below the surface of the melt during rocking or oscillation of the furnace, refractory plugs 14 are put in the holes 13 to be replaced by tuyeres, as at 15, at a later stage when air is to be introduced below the surface of the melt.
