Abstract
537,002. Prepayment mechanism for meters. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES. July 31, 1939, No. 22203. Convention date, Aug. 5, 1938. [Class 27] Price-changing mechanism comprises a stepped wheel gear 4 and a change wheel 18 meshing with one of the steps of the gear 4, the pricechange being affected by removing the wheel 18 and replacing it by another of the desired ratio. In the construction shown applied to an electricity meter the shaft 3 is driven by the meter motor (not shown) and drives the switch-control member 16 through two counter-shafts 8, 8<SP>1</SP>. each furnished with a change wheel 18 or 24, and coupled together and to the member 16 by a differential gear 25. One of the change wheels 24 provides for a coarse adjustment by tens of units and the other 18 for a fine adjustment by units. The wheels can be changed by the removal of milled nuts 17, 17<SP>1</SP>. and when a wheel is removed it releases a locking collar 12 or 12<SP>1</SP> which is pressed by a spring 13 or 13<SP>1</SP> into engagement with a frame plate 2 so as to lock the corresponding shaft 8 or 8' and also the switch member 16 during the change of gear wheels. The change wheel 24 can be dispensed with, the shaft 8' and with it the corresponding differential wheel 22 being then locked by the collar 12<SP>1</SP>. The nuts 17, 17<SP>1</SP> are loosely connected by a bar 23 to prevent loss. In a modification only the shaft 8 is provided.
