[Class 37] A member 5, for example a lifting cam actuating a tariff change device, is driven from the meter disc 1 through gearing 3 and is also acted on by a spring 6 serving as an auxiliary driving force in the same direction as that due to the disc 1 so as to leave the transmission gear 3 wholly or partially unstressed and thereby neutralize the frictional resistance. The driving force of the spring 6 may be increased to supply part of the power required to be done by the member 5, so that the driving disc 1 serves only as a controlling means. The auxiliary driving force may be intercalated in the transmission train 3 so as to neutralize only a part of the frictional resistance. The spring 6 is maintained wound up by a motor 7 through a slipping clutch 8, or by a like source of power, such as means operated by the insertion of a coin into a prepayment mechanism.
