Abstract
1, 013, 863. Maximum demand meters. LANDIS & GYR A.G. June 29, 1964 [June 28, 1963], No. 26810/64. Heading G1K. An armature plate 1 in an induction meter drives, through gears 2, 3, 4, an arm 5, which can entrain a maximum demand indicator pointer 6 and which is returned to zero by a spring 10 whenever gears 3, 4 are uncoupled leaving pointer 6 frictionally held in the maximum position to which it has been driven. A lever 7 carrying the gear 4 is rocked to break the gear train by a cam plate 12, when a fly wheel mass 13 is turned by a pawl 20 pushing a ratchet disc 22 anticlockwise. The pawl 20 is soon rocked out of engagement with the disc 22 by its face 23 engaging a fixed pin 24. When the kinetic energy of the fly wheel 13 is spent it is returned by a spring 15 and the cam plate 12 allows the arm 7 to bring the gear 4 back into engagement with the gear 3. The pawl 20 may be carried by an arm 19 Fig. 2 secured to the armature shaft of a relay 18 which is temporarily de-energized at the end of each registration cycle of e.g. 15 or 60 minutes. Alternatively the pawl 20 may be carried by one arm of a bellcrank lever Fig. 4 (not shown) whose other arm follows a cam. This cam is driven by a synchronous motor one revolution for each cycle and drops the follower off a high part at the end of each causing the pawl to drive the fly wheel.
