Abstract

477,569. Supply meters. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES. Oct. 27, 1936, No. 29166. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1935. [Class 37] In a maximum-demand electric supply meter for computing the charge according to a basic charge tariff, a counting device is rendered operative when the agreed consumption in a predetermined period is exceeded, and indicates the total consumption of energy which takes place during the periods in which excess consumption occurs. The meter system 2 drives a counting train 8 registering total consumption and a maximum-demand device 13, which is periodically disconnected by a relay 14 to permit the movable member 15 to return to zero. The maximum demand may be shown by a non-return pointer 16 moved on by the member 15 and the latter also coacts with a contact device 18 adjustably set on a ring 23 to a definite value of the consumption. When the allowed value of the consumption in any registering period is exceeded, the member 15 moves the contact device about its pivot, whereby two contacts 21, 22 are closed and complete the circuits of two relays 26, 28. In the form shown, each operation of the relay 26 is recorded by a counting train 25, while so long as relay 28 is energized, gear 10 is maintained in engagement with the gear driving a counting train 11. The relays 26, 28 are de-energized when the contact device 18 is deflected to its initial position during the return movement of member 15, at the end of a registering period. By this means, total consumption is registered by the counter 8, excess consumption by the counter 11 and the number of times the allowed consumption has been exceeded by the counter 25. From these values the total consumption which occurs during the excess consumption periods may be determined. In a modification, which indicates this value directly, the allowed consumption is recorded on the counter 25 whenever the relay 26 is energized, excess being shown on the counter 11. Alternatively, the counters 11, 25 may be replaced by a single counter driven through a differential gear, one part of the differential being driven at a speed proportional to the consumption and the other being rotated by a constant amount, both parts of the differential being driven whenever the normal consumption is exceeded, so that the counter registers directly the totals consumption during excess consumption periods. The counting trains 11, 25 may be operated mechanically from the maximumdemand device 13, and the driving of the counter 11 by the meter may also take place by impulses, in which case the two counters 11, 25 can be arranged in a separate casing. Various tariff systems for use with the meter are suggested.
