Abstract

569,075. Supply meters. LANDIS & GYR SOC. ANON. June 10, 1943, No. 9317. Convention date, July 7, 1942. [Class 37] Multiple tariff counting mechanism for measuring instruments is characterised in that a bimetallic strip wound in the form of a helix which is located within and is indirectly heated by a tubular resistance arranged in a circuit connected to the mains, acts through linkwork upon sets of gearing constituting the transmission means of the tariff mechanism, to effect change-over of the said tariff mechanism. A bimetallic helix 24 heated by a tubular resistance 25 energized from mains 26 under the control of a time switch 27, tilts a bellcrank lever 18, 19 fixed on a spindle 15 to cause either pawl 16 or pawl 17 to lock wheel 7 or 14 so as to determine which of two counting mechanisms 1, 3 or 2, 4 is driven by the meter driving wheel 11 through differential gearing 8, 12, 13. A flap 22 moved relative to an aperture indicates which counter is, at the moment, in use. A second bimetallic helix 28 operatively connected to spindle 15 serves to compensate for ambient temperature variations. This compensation may be incorporated in the main helix 24.
