Abstract

594,363. Counting - apparatus. CHARLES, A., GASKIN, R. W. E., SMITH, N. L., and SMITH METERS, Ltd. April 20, 1945, No. 9955. [Class 106 (i)] The driving spindle 1 of the registering mechanism of a gas or other meter is connected by step-up gearing 8, 9, 11, 13 to a pointer for registering small quantities of the commodity concerned. A spring 17 applies a frictional restraint to the spindle of the pointer. The driving spindle 1 carries the usual test-dial pointer and is geared to the usual registering mechanism. In a modification, Fig. 7, the driving spindle 1 is geared through step-up gears 8, 9, 20 and bevel gears 22, 23 to a numeral drum 24. A friction brake bears upon the edge of the drum.
