Counters actuated by revolving mechanism; counters giving monetary indications. -Relates to a portable indicating-device actuated by hand, having a series of dials and pointers for imitating meter-index readings and an adjustable pointer giving the consumption indications for a known time. The device is provided with a cash dial to give the cash values corresponding to the dial indications and a card is provided on which to record the various observations obtained by the device. An adjustable or differentiating pointer 12, frictionally mounted on one of the spindles, is employed to indicate the amount and value of the gas that has been consumed during a given period. The readings of the meter at the beginning of the period are set on the dials of the indicating- device, and the pointer 12 is set to the zero on the large dial. When the disk 1 is rotated to bring the readings on the dials up to the present indications of the meter, the adjustable pointer will have moved to the indications giving the required result. An interchangeable value scale depending on the gas rate surrounds the large dial. These observations are marked on a card as shown in Fig. 6, and then forwarded to the gas company for inspection. If the indications on the dials exceed the capacity of the device, a pin 15 on the highest wheel rocks a bell-crank lever 18 to cause one of its arms 17 to pierce a travelling strip of paper.
