Abstract

400,376. Prepayment mechanism for electricity meters. CHAMBERLAIN & HOOKHAM, Ltd. and JAMES, S., 4, New Bartholomew Street, Birmingham. July 26, 1932, No. 21043. Addition to 346,538. [Class 27.] In coin-freed electricity meters as described in the parent Specification, one of the pair of interconnected epicyclic mechanisms is connected to the current measuring meter and the switch, while the other is connected to the coin-operated device and the fixed charge indicator, means being provided for imparting motion to this latter epicyclic mechanism from an electric or spring motor. One sun pinion a of one of the mechanisms is connected by gearing b to shaft c driven by the current measuring meter, the other sun pinion d being connected by wheels e to a sun pinion f of the second epicyclic mechanism. The planet wheel g of the first mechanism is connected to the switch controlling member h. The coinoperated device j is connected to the other sun pinion i of the second epicyclic mechanism, the planet wheel k of which is connected through wheels l to the fixed charge indicator m. The latter is also associated through wheels n with a member o driven by an electric or spring motor. The mode of action of the mechanism is similar to that described in the parent Specification.
