Abstract
536,943. Shutters. SHIRERS & LANCES, Ltd., and HINCHLIFFE, E. D. Nov. 27, 1939; No. 30830. [Class 20 (iii)] In a system of shutters for windows m, rooflights and similar openings d of buildings, opposed edges of each shutter f are pivotally supported by separate continuous section strips a anchored to the building structure the strips also supporting the ends of glazing bars g. Each L-shaped section strip a is anchored directly by bolts c or through a second similar strip to the building. Each shutter has at two opposite edges an L-section strip h, one flange of each being parallel to a flange of the section a, to which the shutters are pivoted near the ends of the strip h, one pivot having a spherical or partspherical seating as described in Specification 536,942. Several shutters may be mounted on the strips a and may overlap and carry brackets f' connected by links f<SP>2</SP> for simultaneous operation. A protective shield n may be bolted in place at the top of the window:
