Abstract

536,347. Scaffold boards ; trench linings. SCAFFOLDING (GREAT BRITAIN), Ltd., and JONES, D. H. Feb. 3, 1940, Nos. 2147 and 17011. [Class 20 (ii)] [Also in Group XXI] Scaffold boards which may also be used as poling boards 10 for trenches are formed of outer-opposed metal channel sections 13 with their edges brought close together, and inner metal bar sections 15 disposed with their flanges 151 across the joint spaces which are filled with welding metal. The inner bar sections may be of channel, tubular, elliptical or other crosssection. The channel sections may have different widths of flanges so that the joints on opposed sides are staggered. In a modification, Fig. 3, the inner member 161 may be formed of box section with depressed portions at the edges to receive the edges of the flanges of the outer channel section members. The boards may be coated with bitumastic paint and sand dressing. Boards may be connected lengthwise by shaped spigot portions on one length engaging the ends of the inner members of the adjacent board or by resilient connectors 22, Fig. 9 secured to the end of one board engaging in the hollow spaces at the ends of the adjacent board.
