Abstract
447,517. Structural metal joining- members. SHORT BROS. (ROCHESTER & BEDFORD), Ltd., and GOUGE, A., Rochester. April 11, 1935, No. 11229. [Class 20 (ii)] A structural metal joining - member comprises a central web portion and flanges a<2>, b2 extending on each side of the web in opposite directions, the flanges being curved to a radius struck from a centre on the neutral axis of the web. The web may extend in a longitudinal direction beyond the flanges, the extension being perforated so that structural members may be secured to it. The curved flanges are adapted to fit within the end of a tubular member and be riveted therein. The member may be formed from two flanged plates secured back to back, or may be extruded in sectional form, part of the flanges being subsequently cut away to form a web extension.
