Abstract
550,506. Ramps for bridging obstacles in roads. GARRETT & CO., Ltd., C., and WEST, L. July 11, 1941, No. 8773. [Class 107] Ramps for enabling vehicles to surmount obstacles such as fire-hose comprise at least one longitudinal bridge member 12 of substantially inverted U-shape adapted to fit over the hose &c. 10, and a plurality of substantially triangular ramp members 13 detachably received at either side thereof. One or both vertical walls of the bridge members have bent up lower edges 12c with centrally disposed slots 12e, the edges 12c engaging below the vertical wall of an adjacent bridge member or the end wall of a ramp member 13, and the slots 12e receiving off-set lugs 12f on an adjacent bridge member, or side walls of the ramp members 13, to hold the parts against relative movement longitudinally. The ramp members 13 may have transverse braces 13g, Fig. 5, and have in one side wall a recess 13f and on the other a bent-up or attached lug 13d whereby adjacent ramp members may be held together. Bridge members with two bent-up edges may be distinguished from those with one bent-up edge as by different colouring. The parts are preferably made of sheet steel.
