Abstract
539,523. Scaffold boards. SMITH, W. H. March 12, 1940, No. 4655. [Class 20 (ii)] A scaffold or like board is formed of metal with corrugated upper and lower surfaces and the ends are filled with hard wooden or metal plugs. In one form, Fig. 1, the board is formed hollow from a single sheet of corrugated metal A doubled about its centre and the flanged ends C welded at D. Hard wooden plugs E<SP>1</SP> are inserted in the ends and wooden stiffeners F are placed inside transversely of the corrugations and riveted to the upper and lower surfaces. The end stops E may be of metal welded in place and the stiffeners H may be formed as metal strips with projecting tongues H<SP>1</SP> to engage apertures in the corrugations; the flanged ends of the plate may be seamed. The board may be formed of upper and lower plates with different pitch of corrugation and the edges seamed together.
