Abstract

545,200. Section-bars of metal. CONSTRUCTORS, Ltd., and FINER, H. J. Dec. 5, 1940, No. 17347. [Class 20 (ii)] Flanged perforated section-bars for use in the construction of shelving in storage racks are formed from sheet metal by bending the metal of a flat strip over upon itself and then bending the double strip to form the bar, so that the flanges and the webs are at least of double thickness with smooth rounded edges, and the perforations are then formed and serve to bind the folded parts together as shown in Fig. 4. The section-bars may be I, T, channel or Z- sections, and the flanges and webs may be corrugated to stiffen them. Fig 1 shows an angle-bar formed in this manner with double thickness flanges a, a<SP>1</SP> and perforations b. Fig. 5 shows a similar angle-section with corrugated flanges.
