Abstract

[Class 89 (ii)] [Also in Group XVII] A box made from a folding blank which constitutes the front, bottom, back, and lid and which is bordered by metal strips serving for the attachment of the ends, has each strip provided with edge flanges 2, 6 and has teeth 4 cut from the middle of the strip, the arrangement being such that flange 6 and teeth 4 are driven into the wood and flange 2 forms, with the edge of the wood panel forming the blank, a groove for accommodating the end. A strengthening corrugation 3 is formed in the flange 2. When the flange 6 is formed during the application of the strip to the blank, one of the rollers used to clench the teeth may be made with a bead to engage and press down the outer edge of the strip.
