Abstract

535,892. Pistons. SPECIALLOID, Ltd., and GRAHAM, E. B. Aug. 18, 1939, No. 23907. [Class 122 (i)] A piston of the type in which the head 1 is undercut, for instance by a circumferential slot 3, is formed with a rib 9 which extends radially from the gudgeon pin boss 8 to the main part of the piston head so as to transmit the driving pressure, and with a rib 10 which extends tangentially from the boss 8 to that part of the piston head which is undercut. The rib 10 serves to promote uniform heat distribution. The ribs may be of arched form, and may be formed with upper parts curved outwards towards the side of the piston.
