Abstract
568,899. Pistons. SPECIALLOID, Ltd., and GRAHAM, E. B. July 19, 1943, No. 11729. [Class 122 (i)]. An internal combustion engine piston is provided with two groups 10 of heat dissipating ribs tapering in depth or width or both towards the open end of the skirt and localised between the bosses. A rib 11 of the same width as the bosses may extend from'each boss to the head and may be provided with a flange adjacent to the piston axis. Ribs 16 may be provided on the piston head. Inserts may be provided as described in Specifications 483,993, 556,224, 556,267, and 557,070 which are referred to. The piston, may be formed from Y or LO-EX alloys or alloys known under the Registered Trade Marks " RR " and "Ceralumin."
