[Class 122 (i).] A piston comprises a head d carrying the rings f and a skirt b carrying the gudgeon-pin bearings a. The bearings a extend above the level of the skirt at c and are formed with steps e of conical form. The interior of the head d is provided with circumferential grooves to fit upon the steps e. Screwed spindles g are attached to plates j bent at right angles at k and cast in the gudgeon pin bosses. Nuts h secure the head to the skirt.
