Abstract

533,801. Nozzles. WERTHEIMER, H. Nov. 27, 1939, No. 30871. [Classes 69 (iii) and 135] A regulating nozzle for fire-extinguishing &c. in which either a solid jet or an annular spray can be produced is provided with a movable valve member comprising a double cone 7, 8 united by a cylindrical part 9 engaging a nozzle member comprising two hollow cones 4, 5, the inner having a greater slope than the outer. The valve member is attached by wings 6 to a supply pipe 1 by screws 11 the heads of which engage a screw surface in a rotatable sleeve 13 attached to a collar 19. The spray diffuser is formed by a flange 16 on the mouthpiece 3 engaging a rotatable collar 17 screwed on the sleeve 13. This sleeve is provided with a rubber seating 16 for engaging the flange 16 and supply of liquid is regulated by turning the ring 17 liquid being admitted to the spray annulus through staggered elongated openings.
