Abstract

539,863. Nozzles. ROBERTS, S. F. March 26, 1940, No. 5406. [Classes 69 (iii) and 135] A nozzle for producing a central jet and an annular spray both of which are regulable comprises a cylindrical member 1 fixed to a hose branch by a screw 2 and carrying a conical valve 15 attached thereto by fins 14. The member 1 is screwed at 3 to engage a jet controlling member 4 constructed of two parts of a tube 4a flanged at 5 and an outer sleeve 4b secured together at 6 and carrying by ribs 8 an inner tube 7 coned at 13 to engage the valve 15 and carrying the nozzle 9. Regulation of the jet is effected by rotating the member 4. An annular duct 16 between the members 7 and 4 leads to an annular spray forming opening between a flange 10 on the nozzle and a recess 12 in a regulating ring 11 screwed on the tube 4a. A modification is described in which the sleeve carrying the valve-engaging member screws into the socket connected to the hose branch.
