Abstract
532,927. Vehicle &c. lamps. LAURIE, I., and LAURIE, E. E. Sept. 27, 1939, No. 26723. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv).] In a vehicle, signal, street, hand, or like lamp the front glass is replaced, or covered on the inside or outside, by an opaque screen D having a horizontal slot d from which a similarly shaped casing E extends forwardly or rearwardly, the casing E containing a piece or superposed pieces F of glass each with a rear surface in the form of a horizontal part cylinder. The glass pieces F may be slightly tinted blue, and in front of them may be arranged a glass piece G with vertical prisms preferably on its rear surface. The slot d is off-centred, and is normally positioned below the centre of the reflector C so as to project a relatively wide but shallow beam somewhat downwardly, but in fog it may be rotated into a vertical position to project the beam to one side of the road.
