Abstract
532,624. Gas-producers. KENNEDY, D. S. Sept. 14, 1939, No. 25813. [Class 55 (i)] In two grateless gas producers worked as a pair, the air inlets c, d and gas outlets f, g of the primary and secondary producers a, b respectively being arranged on opposite sides of the producer shell, the gas from the outlet f is passed by a pipe h into the secondary producer at a point adjacent to the incandescent zone. The primary producer is worked under pressure, and the secondary producer under suction, and both are arranged above a water trough e into which the ashes pass. In Fig. 5, the producers are arranged one above the other so that the fuel deprived of its volatiles in producer a passes into the upper end of producer b from the lower end of which the ashes fall into a water trough. The volatile constituents from the primary producer are decomposed in the secondary producer to yield a gas substantially free from tar.
