Producers.-A gasproducer is divided into upper and lower sections by a constriction A<2>, the fuel being fed into the upper section A<3> at the top. Air is adm i t t e d through tuyeres C, C' and also through openings E beneath the grate D. The gas is withdrawn through an opening F adjacent to an arch F<1>, to a steam-generator G, by which steam is supplied through pipes J to the feedchamber B and the openings E beneath the grate.
