Producers.-In a gas-producer using coke, the upper part m is used to contain the fuel which passes into the hot zone at a rate dependent upon the ash discharge, the gas outlet being through a number of openings c, c' &c. leading into an annular space in a double lining e, e<1>. The lower part of the producer is made of metal and provided with a water jacket w for cooling purposes.
