[Class 100 (i)] In a mechanism for feeding a strip of cardboard to a shaping &c. machine in which movement is imparted to the feeding device by a toothed segment, the pivot of the segment is displaceable for adjustment of the angle of oscillation and thus of the feed of'the strip. The feed rollers 4, 5, Fig. 1, are driven through a freewheel device 13, 14 and segment 12 oscillated by a slider crank mechanism, the crank pin 7 being adjustable by a screw 15. The segment turns about an eccentric 19 angularly adjustable while the machine is running by means of a handwheel 23 on a screwed rod 22 connected to an arm 21 integral with the eccentric. The handwheel is confined between two lugs 25 on a slidable block having a second pair of lugs engaged by a cam 28 on an arm 26 movable between two adjustable stops 30. Momentum of the rollers 4, 5 may cause a slightly different amount of feed for the same setting of the parts if the machine is running at a high or low speed and the two positions of the arm 26 provide for the same feed length at both speeds. The movement of the arm 26 may be effected automatically as the speed of the machine is changed. In a modification, Fig. 2, instead of providing the parts 26, 28, 30, the arm 21 is in two pivotally connected parts, 21, 31, the rod 22 being connected to the part 31 which is movable into two positions relatively to the part 21 and as determined by stops 35, 36 by an electromagnet 37 actuated simultaneously with the change of speed of the machine.
