Abstract
531,738. Closures for bottles and like. GRAY, E. July 31, 1939, No. 22213. Convention date, Sept. 15, 1938. [Class 125 (iii)] A closure cap B is provided for the bottle A or like container, to effect sealing by screwing on and to provide a reservoir or well C which can be charged from the container. The well C is fitted in the cap top as shown and a pipe D of rubber or similar material extends from the well to the bottom of the container. A screw lid may cover and seal the top of the well, and a non-corrosive lining E of glass or porcelain may be provided. The closure cap B also carries an open ended cylinder G, Fig. 2, which has a plunger J. By depressing the plunger the pressure in the container is raised and liquid is forced upwards into the well C; when the plunger is raised the liquid falls abck. The arrangement may be applied for the filling of fountain pens, to caps of bottles of colours or gums, and to caps of bottles containing liquid for hypodermic injections. In a modification the plunger J is replaced by a piston M moved against spring pressure.
