Abstract
531,598. Automatic circuit-breakers. DEWAR, G., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. July 27. 1939, No. 21876. Addition to 479,953. [Class 38 (v)] The invention of the parent Specification is modified in that the rack-and-pinion connection between the link 30 on the operating lever 7 and the flywheel 15 is replaced by a screwed shaft 33 having threaded engagement with either the flywheel or, as shown, a sleeve or nut 36 on which the flywheel is a friction fit so as to serve as a slipping clutch when the contacts meet. The sleeve 36 is located axially by the limbs of a buckle-shaped bracket 34 pivoted at 35 to the frame. The link 30 may act in the same way as link 12 of the parent Specification but, as shown, has a further arm 31 for moving the trip lever 10 clear of the actuating lever 5 when, due to undue retardation of the closing movement of lever 7, the flywheel.runs on and draws the shaft 33 downwards.
