Abstract

427,506. Automatic circuit-breakers. COMPAGNIE CONTINENTALE POUR LA FABRICATION DES COMPTEURS ET AUTRES APPAREILS, 17, Rue d'Astorg, Paris. April 30, 1934, No. 13008. Convention date, May 1, 1933. [Class 38 (v)] A trip-free automatic circuit-breaker is provided with a resetting button 14, which is so arranged as to be shielded by a removable cover 6 containing the circuit-breaker, the button being combined with movable contacts 9, 10 so as to be movable with the contacts. In the construction shown, the fixed contacts 7, 8 of the circuit-breaker are connected to contact-pins 3, 4 adapted to engage sockets 23, 24 on a base member 1, the movable contacts and button 14 being carried by an insulating member 11 slidably mounted on extensions 12, 13 of the pins 3, 4. The circuit between the movable contacts 9, 10 includes a U-shaped bimetallic member 15 having a catch 16 adapted to engage a fixed catch 17 to hold the switch in the " on " position against the action of springs 21, 22. The bimetallic member may be provided with cooling wings and with an adjustable screw and nut 27 slidably mounted on the two legs of the strip to enable a portion of the strip to be shunted.
