Abstract
209,436. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Hall, C. I.). Jan. 8, 1923, [Convention date]. Automatic circuit-breakers comprise a pair of pivoted switch members 12, 19 carrying cooperating contacts 10, 11 and a pair of thermostatic latches 16, 26 for holding the switch members in the circuit-closed position against the bias of springs 14, 20. Upon the occurrence of excessive current in one or both of two conductors 18, 30 which may, for example, form part of the supply circuit for two of the phases of a three-phase system, one or both of the thermostatic latches 16, 26, bends and the contacts 10, 11 which may form part of a retaining circuit for a contactor switch in the supply circuit separate. The members 12, 19 are each pivoted at 24 to an arm 21 which is pivoted at 22 to the base, so that the circuit breaker may be set for different values of current by adjustment of the arms 21. Resetting of the device is effected by the upward movement of a member 32 attached to a handle 36.
