530,533. Turning-gears. FARION, L., and OTTIGER, H. June 21, 1939, Nos. 18085 and 18086. Convention dates, June 21, 1938 and Feb. 14,1939. [Class 7 (v)] A threaded sleeve 8 on which a starter pinion 10 moves axially into mesh with an engine gear is driven from the starter shaft 1 through a resilient rubber or like block 12, having recesses 13 engaged by teeth 5, 7 on a driving member 4 secured to the starter shaft 1 and on a driven member 6 formed on the sleeve 8, the teeth being at 90 degrees to the teeth 7. As shown, the members 4, 6 are assembled by means of a barrel 14 screwed at 15 on the member 4 and having a flange in engagement with the member 6. Accidental unscrewing of the barrel 14 is prevented by a screw 17, which is sunk within the member 4 when the barrel 14 is being screwed into position, and is afterwards partly unscrewed to engage it in a recess 16 in the barrel. The recess 13 and teeth 5, 7 may be parallel-sided as in Fig. 3 or tapered towards the arms of the shaft 1, with rounded corners.
