[Also in Group XXVII] In an engine starting mechanism of the kind comprising a motor 1 which is arranged to drive the engine through the intermediary of a uni-directional clutch 5, 6 arranged to prevent the engine when started from driving the motor, the motor is connected to the unidirectional clutch through the intermediary of an internally screw-threaded sleeve 4 in engagement with a screw-threaded shaft 3 of or driven by the motor, the sleeve having spline or equivalent driving connection with the clutch whereby in the event of the clutch jamming and the engine lending to drive the motor, the sleeve will be unscrewed from the shaft. The sleeve is normally retained in position by a soft metal peg 7 which can be readily sheared.
