Abstract
530,520. Aircraft floats. McKINLEY, A. C. June 10, 1939, No. 17035. Convention date, June 25, 1938. [Classes 4 and 113 (ii)] An aircraft float 20 is made of fabric, e.g. a bias fabric between two plies of rubber, held to its shape by a small internal air pressure, and comprising stream-lined fore and aft portions connected by a step 45. It may be divided into compartments by fabric diaphragms 48 ... 51 cemented to the walls of the float at their edges. Spray deflectors 60 in the form of inflatable rubber tubes may be secured to the fore part. The float is laced to a metal framework comprising longitudinal bars 18 and cross bars 27 ... 31 to which struts and tie bars connected to the aircraft body are secured.
