Abstract

178,912. Bolas, H., and Parnall, G. G. Jan. 21, 1921. Floats of amphibious aircraft have a rear section which is hinged and resiliently mounted and provided with a tail skid. The Figure shows a central float 1 having a rear section 2 hinged at 3 and resiliently connected to the fuselage 6 through a strut or struts 4 and a shockabsorber 5. The section 2 carries the tail skid and a water rudder 8, or other fins. According to the Provisional Specification, the shock-absorber may be disposed betwen the rear section and the main body.
