Abstract
427,017. Aeroplanes. ZIMMERMANN, R., 99, Getrudstrasse, Zurich, Switzerland. July 10, 1933, No. 19520. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Jan. 9, 1934]. [Class 4] The air acted upon by an aeroplane propeller is discharged through a tunnel formed on the machine. As shown in Fig. 2, a propeller E discharges air through a cylindrical tube O squeezed in at the rear end in two, three or four positions to form outlets D, Fig. 4, of various shapes across which are placed horizontal and vertical control surfaces H<2>, J. A conical casing P surrounds the fore-part of the tube and forms a tapering recess n. A control surface may be formed on the wing. Propellers mounted on the wings may also discharge the air through cylindrical tubes.
