Abstract

528,993. Electric battery lamps. CURNOW, A. J. May 19, 1939, No. 14907. [Class 39 (ii)] A casing 1 carries one or more lamp holders 4, 4a, 4b, and contains a battery magazine device consisting of battery sockets 17 mounted on a common metallic base member 16 connected to one pole of all the batteries 18, and provided with a spring contact or contacts 24, 24a, 24b, each engaging a lamp bulb contact. The lid of the casing is provided with contacts 21 engaging the other pole of the batteries, and carries a switch 27 by which the batteries may be individually and successively connected in the lamp circuit. The base 16 fits in recesses at the bottom of the casing and is removable. The rotary switch 27 is electrically connected with the lamp holders 4, 4a. 4b, by conducting strips 14, 15. The lamps which are not in use are put out of circuit by screws 25, 25a. 25b, which act on the contact strips 24, 24a, 24b. A contact member 32 is arranged to be operated against a spring 33 to engage with the contacts of the switch 27 and connect all the batteries in parallel.
