Abstract

528,357. Couplings. VERMEER, G. M. May 5, 1939, No. 13412. Convention date, May 18, 1938. [Class 38 (i)] A device for connecting branch lines to a multi-core cable comprises a ring of insulating material formed in two parts 1, 2 in which are embedded terminal blocks 7-10 connected to the cores by screws 11 that are pointed to penetrate the insulation. The blocks 7-10 extend parallel to the cable and protrude from one face of the ring 1, 2, each being formed with a U-shaped terminal 15 in which the braneh wire is clamped by screws 17. The terminals 15 are set diagonally to the square stem 14 in which are two holes at right angles for receiving the screws 11 so that the branch wires can lie in either a horizontal or vertical direction. Additional terminal blocks 13 for connecting measuring or test wires are provided and the interior of the ring 1, 2 has a projection 20 to locate the ring relatively to the cores. Insulating caps 12 cover the screws 11.
