Abstract
527,249. Public address systems ; non- contact-making relays. GRAHAM & CO., Ltd., A., and VAUGHAN, C. H. April 5, 1939, No. 10599. [Class 40 (iv)] A non-contact-making relay for feeding a number of loudspeaker circuits in parallel comprises a similar number of microphonic or other elements controlled by the moving armature of an electromagnetic receiver. A number of carbon granule buttons 7 are located in the apertures of two discs 2, 3, being clamped between the discs, while the moving electrodes are secured to a disc 12 the centre of which is connected by a rod 14 to the armature 15 of an electromagnetic receiver comprising a permanent magnet 16 and a speech coil 18. A mounting plate 1 carries on one side the receiver and on the other side the discs 2, 3. The buttons 7 are fed by a common battery 21a through individual inductances 23, and each loudspeaker 24 in series with a condenser 25 is shunted across its corresponding microphone button. The microphone elements. may be alternatively of the electromagnetic type requiring no external source of current.
